Meet PROVEN
No one ever thought of sixteen-year-old Jovie Halinger as a hero. In fact, she was just a typical free-spirited, high-curiosity, short-tempered girl in her small seventeenth century village. Like every other person in her village, she had her problems, which mostly revolved around her father, Luke. She never hid her disdain towards him when he started drowning his emotions in alcohol after her mother passed away, and even worse, her jealousy after he seemingly abandoned her to take the orphan teen, Gabriel, under his wing as his prized guard apprentice. Definitely not hero material at all.
But at least she still had her unlikely best friend, James, who happened to be a crown prince of Greenstone. Their lifelong friendship was what other ladies could only dream to have with the handsome spare to the throne. Because of their bond, Jovie often had the pleasure of experiencing things that most of her status would not, including attending his birthday celebration.
Prince James’ birthday ball. A night of dressing up and mingling with the elite. Eating delicious food, dancing with the rich (and boring), and for once, being served instead of serving. Despite the obvious difference in status, Jovie was having the time of her life.
Until the explosions went off.
Suddenly, it was up to Jovie to get James to safety, only to be betrayed by someone she thought she could trust to help. Sitting in the dark, cold confines of a prison cell, she found herself in a situation that would make most men crumble. In her weakest moments, she, too, wavered between loyalty and surviving.
With the help of an unexpected visitor, she barely escapes with her life and rejoins James and Luke on The Silver Blade, setting out to sea on an adventure most would only dream about.
Three countries. One month. Countless life-changing events that open Jovie’s eyes to the extremes of humanity. The evils of tyrants fuel her desire for revenge while at the same time she finds love in unexpected places. To save the village and her best friend, she heeds the call to rise up and fight, creating an unexpected hero.
