PROVEN Trivia #1
Daniels
was Jovie and Luke’s original last name. Then I realized it was the same last
name of a character in another series of books I have read from an author named
Jessica Sorensen. Not really a big deal, right? I mean, Daniels is a common
last name. But then I started looking at the characters. Jovie and Ella were so
similar in how I imagined them in looks and personality that I knew I had to
change the last name to keep Jessica from thinking I flung her character from
the 2000’s back into the 1600’s.
I
have struggled since with the last name. Nothing seems to fit like Daniels
does. I have played with names like Alexander, Joveson (Jovie would have her
nickname from that one since her first name is Lucas after her father), Weaver,
and even looked into Celtic names since I imagine Greenstone as a very
Irish-esque country. But perhaps I have found one that will work. Halinger
seems to be unique, just like she is.
I
have also recently heard another character named Gabriel with the same last
name as my Gabriel, but nu uh. I like Black for him. The only other thing I
would consider right now is Way, but I hope I don’t have to go through that
search process again. Whoever knew it could be so hard to find the perfect last
name?!
**Update:
I should never say I'm opposed to doing something and then do it, a la Ashlee Simpson and her lip syncing mishap in 2004. Gabriel's last name has been changed, and while it was hard to give up Black, I felt that it could have more power behind it if it weren't such a common name, therefore, I think Tillaeth is a good replacement.
